About me

Hey there! Let me give you a quick tour of my journey in the tech world. Picture me as the kind of person who’s petting a cat on his lap while navigating the intricacies of the latest programming language or AI model. Speaking of which, i’ve got a whole page dedicated to my animals if you’re into that sort of thing.

Tech Journey: A Quick Glance

🔍 Systems enthusiast: OpenBSD, FreeBSD, Solaris/Illumos
🌐 Behind the magic at anycast.io since its early days
🛤 Tech highlights:
C/C++ (1997): Got a Linux and C Bible when i was 12
Perl/CGI (1999): Well it was the newest stuff on the block back then
PHP (2004): It sucked right from the start
Java (2005): Curiosity lead me to Tapestry 5
Ruby (2006): An early bird with Ruby on Rails
Python (2007): The good old django days
Objective-C (2008): Early bird iOS App Development
Scala (2009): Performance led me here & became a part of liftweb.net
Java (2012): Worked heavily with Akka and Netty
Golang (2014): My main go-to for daemons ever since
Elixir (2019): Exploring the wonders of the Phoenix Framework
NixOS (2021): Declarative infrastructure, runs on all my machines
AI/LLMs (2023): Consulting, training, and building on top of the AI stack

2008 - 2009: Diving into iOS & Scala

Worked at Esirion AG, marking my territory in iOS with gems like GPS Astro, MR Wetter, Fürth App, Ski Weather, Yachting Weather, and SIEMENS Hörmagazin.

2010 - 2012: Going Solo with Scala & Liftweb

Embraced entrepreneurship with Bettag Systems UG (haftungsbeschränkt), your go-to for IT Consulting and AI Seminars.

Shared my expertise at the Scala LiftOff in London with a talk titled Liftweb In the Real World - a hyper polyglots tale.

And oh, 2012? A golden year as I joined the Liftweb community officially.

2013 - 2019: The Era of Golang

Performance woes led me to the doors of Golang. It’s been a mainstay for projects needing the real scale since.

2019 - 2025+: Explorations with Elixir & Golang

Found a new love in Elixir’s Phoenix Framework - an absolute delight for any developer. Sometimes, pairing Elixir frontends with Golang daemons creates the perfect blend. Still my go-to stack for most projects.

2023 - 2025: Deep Dive into AI & Offensive Security

The AI wave hit and i went all in. High-level consulting, training companies, running my own models on local racks in Nuremberg, and building scalable services on top of the emerging tech stack.

For those who don’t know, i was deep in the blackhat community back in the early 2000s (until about 2005). Fast forward to 2025 and the contract market in Germany went dead, so i combined my old offensive security knowledge with my AI expertise and pivoted to bug bounty hunting. Built a fully distributed, AI-orchestrated automation platform running on NixOS that hunts vulnerabilities while i sleep.

My Failed German TikTok and YouTube Channel

Look, not everything works out. Back in 2023 i tried my hand at creating AI content on social media. The idea was simple: showcase cool AI applications daily and build a community around it.

🎥 YouTube: AI Nerd
📱 TikTok: AI Nerd

It didn’t take off. Turns out, being good at tech doesn’t automatically make you good at content creation. But hey, i tried, and i’m leaving this here because i’m not going to pretend i only have success stories.
